Fire Doors by Sector
The right fire door specification depends on the building it protects. Fire resistance is measured in minutes — FD30 doors resist fire for 30 minutes and FD60 for 60 minutes, tested to BS 476: Part 22 or BS EN 1634-1. The duty to keep fire doors in working order sits with the responsible person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and buildings over 11 metres carry extra obligations under the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, including quarterly checks of communal fire doors and annual checks of flat entrance doors. Select your building type below for the regulations that apply and a recommended specification.
