About FD60 fire doors

FD60 is a fire-resistance rating denoting 60 minutes of integrity under the UK and European fire-door test standards, BS 476: Part 22 and BS EN 1634-1. FD60 doors are specified where a longer 60-minute period is required — higher-risk areas, stairwell and lift-lobby enclosures, plant and riser rooms, and wherever a fire strategy or building control requires FD60.

Frequently asked questions

What does FD60 mean?+

FD60 means the door is rated to resist the spread of fire for 60 minutes, the integrity period defined by the test standards BS 476: Part 22 and BS EN 1634-1. To perform as intended the door must be installed as a complete doorset with compatible intumescent seals and certified ironmongery, and kept in good working order.

Can these doors be made to measure?+

Yes — many are available made to measure so the leaf is manufactured to your exact opening. A fire door should not be over-trimmed on site, as cutting beyond the manufacturer's tolerance can invalidate its fire rating, so made-to-measure is the safest option for non-standard openings. Stock sizes are also available where they fit.

Do you deliver across the UK?+

Yes — we deliver to mainland UK addresses. Standard lead time is 2–3 weeks from order confirmation. Delivery to Scotland, the Highlands & Islands or other remote areas may carry a higher charge, which we confirm on your quote.

Do you offer installation?+

Yes — we offer nationwide installation by FIRAS and BM TRADA certified fitters. Correct installation matters: a fire door only achieves its rating when hung as a complete doorset with the right seals and ironmongery.
