Legally you can fit a fire door yourself, but in practice it is rarely sensible: the door must be installed exactly as tested (correct gaps, intumescent strips fitted to the manufacturer's specification, certified ironmongery, self-closer correctly adjusted) for its certification to remain valid. A poorly fitted FD30 may not last 30 minutes in a real fire, and Liverpool licensing inspectors will flag installation defects regardless of who fitted the door.
